SCH dreams of being a gangster in the Gibraltar docks

With Jul, the boss of Marseille rap, SCH has become, in a few albums certified platinum, one of the essential figures of French hip-hop. On the Marseille collaborative album 13 Organized, his deep voice, his expressions like “my spoiled” almost zozed contributed to the success of the disc which brought together forty-eight rappers from Marseille. SCH’s duet performances have marked the whole of 2020 with brilliant appearances alongside the Ile-de-France rapper Zola, the Belgian Hamza or the Algerian singer Soolking.

After these different interventions, the rapper born in Marseille but raised in Aubagne publishes the second part of his trilogy JVLIVS, or the fictitious account of the life of a young Marseille mafia. Surrounded by the same team of composers as on his first volume in 2018, the Katrina Squad in Toulouse, and young beatmakers like Chadi, the rapper from Marseille is delivering a new album where he has mastered the art of storytelling more than ever. Some elements of his own life slip here and there: the absence of the father, the respect for the mother, the loneliness that is essential with success.

Melancholy thug story

As he himself points out in a Parisian hotel, SCH is not “A current rapper”. « I try to build timeless pieces, he decrypts, so if I start talking about the Covid, for example, it would be easy to pinpoint them in time. There are a lot of artists who talk about current affairs, I am a rapper who narrates, I like to tell stories. »

His real name Julien Schwarzer, the long and slender young man of 27 years has been fascinated by gangster films since childhood. To set the scene for his story of a melancholy thug, baptized JVLIVS, SCH once again uses the voice of Al Pacino’s French understudy, José Luccioni: “I chose him because he is the voice of all those films that my generation loved, he assures. All the young people my age were watching Scarface, The Devil’s Associate… In which Al Pacino shone. ”

SCH: “There are many artists who talk about current affairs, I am a rapper who narrates, I like to tell stories”

The French actor indeed intervenes several times in the album. From the introduction, he describes the atmosphere of Gibraltar, a Mediterranean port like Marseille. This is where the new adventures of Jvlivs begin, a young mafia who managed to survive the twisted blows of the elders
